A trio of Sonic titles celebrate the upcoming movie with themed updates

We are going to keep on rocking with the Sonic updates today as it is very nostalgic, and I am embracing the fact that I am becoming old with all the aches and pains the cold weather has brought. With Sonic the Hedgehog 3 bearing down on us, three of the franchise's mobile titles are celebrating.

Let's kick off with Sonic Dash, available on iOS and Android. From December 30 you can earn your favourite stars from the Sonic Movie. Movie Sonic and Movie Shadow can be unlocked by collecting cards, and extra rewards are available from daily collectables. The Apple Arcade version will also get its own Shadow-themed update in January 2025.

Our next little update comes to Sonic Forces. Dropping December 12th, you can tackle events as Movie Sonic, Movie Shadow, and more. There will be three additional tracks for you to master, all set in the new Metro-city Zone. You can enjoy this running-based fun on Apple and Android.

Finally, this last batch of updates is only for those with a subscription to Apple Arcade, and unfortunately for Android players, it is the most beefy. For a start, Sonic Dream Team will be adding a set of powers, with Quick Grind, Perfect Jump, Chain Attack, and Perfect Boost available for all characters. Shadow himself will also have the Double Chaos Shift and extended Chaos Control skills.

Slightly ruining the next reveal, you will be able to tackle Tails’ Challenges as Shadow. You can take on special levels which will earn you neat rewards, and the ability to play Shadow in Adventure. With Chaos Control and Chaos Shift, you can leave enemies locked harmless in place and blitz past them all.

Six Shadow-themed statues will be up for grabs, and fan-favourite music tracks can be found in Tails’ Challenges. Finally, for those flocking to the game thanks to the new movie, there is a fully reworked tutorial. So, make sure to check out Sonic Dream Team on the Apple Arcade when the update drops on December 18th.
