5 point and click games like Kathy Rain

Raw Fury’s latest game, Kathy Rain, is now on mobile for all of you potential super sleuths out there. Set in a small town, journalism major Kathy Rain uses her investigative skills to uncover the mystery surrounding her grandfather’s death while also dealing with issues of family and loss. It’s quite good, especially if you’re a fan of point and click adventure games. Once you’ve beaten it, we recommend these other fine point and clicks.

You’re probably supposed to save the best for last, but I just couldn’t help myself, okay? Love You to Bits is a gorgeous point and click adventure set in outer space. Everything from the characters, to the unique puzzles, to the well-written love story make this a fantastic game both within the genre and without.

Double Fine’s recent return to the point and click genre is a coming of age story with an all star cast including Elijah Wood, Jennifer Hale, and Jack Black. The game is entirely hand drawn and embraces that quirky atmosphere Double Fine is known for.

The Broken Sword series is up to its fifth episode now, but all of them are quality adventures telling the story of French journalist Nico Collard and token American George Stobbart as they travel across the world solving puzzles and mysteries of epic proportions to uncover strange truths about the Knights Templar.

This cute creation from the makers of Machinarium sees you guiding little plant-like creatures on a quest to save their home tree’s last seed from evil parasites. Botanicula is heartwarming and humorous. It looks quite cool, too, like leaves and seed pods placed under a microscope.

With stunning pixel art and a fantastic soundtrack that even incorporates itself into some of the puzzles, Superbrothers is an outstanding adventure of epic sword battles and amazing feats of that titular sworcery. If you want something truly different, don’t miss this one.

Point and click games get a lot of flack for being outdated, but these games show that this classic adventure genre isn’t going anywhere just yet. Mobile also happens to be a great platform for point and click controls, and all of the entries on this list really shine on the platform. You’re in for a lovely, well-told story no matter which game on this list you end up choosing.
