Love and Dragons HD Review

Hidden object games have become quite popular on the App Store, with more and more developers creating games of a similar nature. From the creators of Mystery Manor comes a new adventure that takes place in a magical world of warriors, mages, love, and betrayal.

Love and Dragons is a beautiful adventure of the hidden object genre, where players will take on a journey to prevent the invasion of demons from the abyss while meeting some interesting characters along the way, each with their own backgrounds and personalities. The game will throw a variety of twists and turns at every opportunity, and above all, players will encounter many a mystery along the way.

The beautiful painted art-style of Love and Dragons is something special here, but the same cannot be said for the interface. I found it quite a hassle having to work my way around the visual clutter, but anybody familiar with hidden object games will most likely find it a walk in the park. The in-game tutorial was a welcome feature in this case, and the game does a good job of explaining its way around the layout.

Obviously, hidden object games pride themselves on being a pixel-hunt to some degree, and Love and Dragons is no exception. The game rewards the player for managing to complete specific tasks within a small timeframe, but again, as it’s based on a free-to-play business model there is also only a certain amount of gameplay involved before the energy runs down and it requires a waiting time or specific in-app purchase in order to advance.

Personally, I think my levels of enjoyment were let down by the repetitive nature of revisiting the same locations over and over, and I feel the game would have benefited from introducing a larger number of areas to play with from the beginning. There were a lot of times when I found myself quitting through tedium, but I still believe that anyone with a love for hidden object games will appreciate the effort that has gone into such a visually appealing and engrossing adventure, if for the storyline alone.

Love and Dragons should be kept on the radar for those who love fantasy, magic, and mystery, but for those who are expecting more than a story told through a casually paced pixel-hunt there may be cause for disappointment.
