Mr. Wolf and the Ginger Cupcakes Review

Mr. Wolf and the Ginger Cupcakes is a wonderful universal storybook app, very nicely written and illustrated. Read this book to yourself or have it read to you with pages turning automatically. An impressive Six languages are included: Italian, French, Spanish, Japanese, and both simplified and traditional Chinese as well as English, making this app a great choice for multilingual families, parents who may want to expose his child to the sounds of a new language or anyone who just enjoys a cute and witty story.

Mr. Wolf is based on the classic tale of Red Ridinghood, a story often turned into an application, about a girl trusting the wrong character she meets in the woods on the way to her grandmother's, and it almost does not end well. My son and I have read many versions of this tale in app form, as well in other mediums and it is a story that does not get old for myself as I am always curious to see what elements from this classic, rather dark tale are kept and how the new story may differ from the original.

I am very impressed with this adaptation as this thoroughly modern take on the traditional ending took me completely by surprise. It is charming and witty - adults may enjoy this ending even more than kids will. I also appreciate that this story is full of humor and that nobody gets hurt at the end, something of value for families that stay clear of stories with violence, even if the violence comes from a traditional source.

I also like the new spin added in the woods when Red first meets the Wolf as he tricks her to take a long route to grandmother's house, giving him time to get there first. The added details are thoroughly “Mr. Wolf” and full of whimsy that I really enjoy.

The look of this app is also fantastic. The drawings used are beautifully hand drawn with the use of water colors and colored pencils, and I appreciate the vivid colors used in these illustrations. Jazzy music is also used throughout this book, which works well with this story's modern take on this classic tale.

I hope these developers continue to create more stories such as this one. I would love to see their take on other classic stories, as I was impressed with the ending of this one a great deal. I recommend this to story lovers of all ages.
