Mood Camera isn't the prettiest of photo filtering apps. Far from it in fact. Once the user loads it, Mood Camera throws them right into the action. At first, this might feel excessively minimalistic but it's actually because everything is so self explanatory.
Speed is understandably important with any photography app and Mood Camera ensures that users can take a photo from within the app in nearly no time at all. Mood Camera also takes two photos and saves them to the photo album, one being the photo before the visual change and one after the filtering options have been applied. It ensures that users will always have a back up on offer.
Turning the various filters on is a simple matter of tapping one of five buttons or any combination of them. In all, there are 32 different effects that can be applied depending on which buttons have been selected. It's fun to experiment with as it's easy to make some very quirky psychedelic effects in a matter of seconds. It'd be nice if users could add favorite effects to a preset list though as the only current way is to simply remember the combination used which isn't always convenient.
It'd also be nice if users could apply such filters to images already located on the Photo Album. Currently, users can only apply filters to images taken from within the app.
Other than this, though, Mood Camera is a typical and fairly effective photo filtering app. The results are quirky and certainly different from the norm but it's fun to experiment with different subjects. The mood side of things is a little gimmicky and probably tongue in cheek as I'm not entirely convinced the app accurately picks up a person's mood but the effect is fun nonetheless. Taking photos of light sources also provides great imagery too.
For users who fancy using a photo filtering app that's a bit quirkier than the norm, Mood Camera is ideal. It won't suit everyone's tastes and it is a little basic, but it's certainly got its uses.
