There is a stampede of subspecies invading Monster Hunter Now in the latest event, and they come bearing gifts. Defeating these big beasties will grant you a new Mysterious Driftstone F, which has a chance to imbue the Coalescence skill into your armour via driftsmelting.

So, what is all this Coalescence nonsense about? Well, it is a skill that activates when you recover from an abnormal status, where it will increase damage for a short time. What’s better, it will still proc if skills like Poison Resistance and Paralysis Resistance nullify the effect. Free damage boost effectively, which is never a bad thing.

Now you know what it is, let's see how to get it. Put simply, put down any large monster you find between April 28th and May 4th, and you might get it as a drop. If you are looking for a specific monster, there are a few that spawn in certain habitats. Deserts will host Nightshade Paolumu and Black Diablos. Pink Rathians will patrol the swamp, as will the Coral Pukei-Pukei. You can also find the latter in forests alongside the Azure Rathalos. Finally, the Ebony Odogaron will appear frequently across all habitats.

The Ebony Odharon will also show up in Hunt-a-thon points, bringing with it the Coral Pukei-Pukei, Black Diablos, Silver and Azure Rathalos, and the Pink Rathian. Elder Dragon Interceptions will also have double basic rewards upon repelling your foe, or 50% more when slaying it. They will also appear slightly more often.

If you want to increase your odds of getting the Mysterious Driftsone F, there are a few beasts that are guaranteed to drop it. These are the Silver Rathalos, Gold Rathian, Ebony Odogaron, Nightshade Paolumu, Coral Pukei-Pukei, Black Diablos, Azure Rathalos, Pink Rathian, Kushala Daora, Teostra, Nergigante, and Kirin. Then simply driftsmelt, a process that will be reduced to 2.5km for the event, and you will get either the Coalescence or Latent Power skill.

During this time, there will also be limited quests, such as beating elder dragons, taking down the Silver Rathalos, and more. You will be rewarded with the likes of Insta-Smelt Solution, monster mats, and gatherable materials. Download Monster Hunter Now from the App Store and Google Play so you don’t miss out.
