Mister Rogers’ Make A Journal

Kids use pictures to identify emotions; helps parents understand child’s feelings

Mister Rogers’ Make A Journal

This Mister Rogers themed app allows young children to express themselves through the creation of journals. Kids are able to identify feelings by choosing three sets of pictures related to five basic journal topics including books, mad feelings, playtime, pretending, and school. They can save these entries in a library to read through at any time. An important distinction of this app is that it’s primarily to help kids identify emotions and gain a better sense of self and less about the creation or an original, artistic journal. I think this app would be especially useful for children who struggle with emotional identification and expression. In turn, parents and caregivers can use journal entries to promote discussion for further understanding of their child’s perspective. This app has heart and I commend the makers for using this platform to reach deeper for something more meaningful and substantial.
