Little Rockets is an enjoyable puzzle game that is simple and has a couple neat mechanics. Players have to strategically place arrows around a level to direct and propel a rocket around. Players cannot directly control the rocket; rather the arrows are the only means of controlling the rocket.
The goal of the game is to collect floating blue energy and make it back to the beginning portal that the rocket is initially launched from.
Players tap the arrows at the top of the screen to either add an arrow or delete an arrow. When placing a new arrow, a grid appears and the arrow automatically fits inside one of the squares on the grid. The final step in placing the arrow is choosing which way to orient it. The green arrows are activated and deactivated as the rocket moves over them. These arrows add a whole new level of complexity to the game when they are introduced. Players delete arrows is by selecting the icon of an arrow with a red X over it at the top of the screen, which deletes the most recently placed arrow. Arrows can be placed after the rocket is launched, so players don’t have to passively watch a level play out.
There are 55 levels organized into 4 different planets. Initially, players have the option to skip 3 levels. Certain upgrades, like unlocking every level or unlimited levels skips can be purchased at the in-game store. The first few levels include a nice interactive tutorial, complete with instructions and information, so learning the ropes is quite easy. Some of the later levels have very interesting objects, such as lasers that make the rocket explode, and red buttons that activate something. There are also usually satellites and space rockets that have to be avoided, and all of the artistic assets are drawn well.
Little Rockets is a fun puzzle game with some unique components. There aren’t any really innovative aspects, but it does offer plenty of interesting levels.
