Part of the auto RPG/clicker genre, Kingdom Clicker is a lot like all the others. You’ll be spending far too much time being engrossed in what it offers even though, secretly, you know it’s a colossal waste of time. Then, one day the fog will lift and you’ll wonder just what drew you in. For that short period of obsession though, it’s great fun and pretty harmless.
Deviating from the usual theme of you being an adventurer out for fame and fortune, you’re controlling a kingdom through a few simple taps. Through those taps, you can establish new buildings to support your burgeoning empire, plus you can throw yourself into battle.
Battle is a matter of building up an army then unleashing it upon another player. It’s down to statistics and luck, rather than skill, but it mixes things up a little. You’ll soon realise though that the best way to get ahead is to tap like crazy and you will - any time you have a spare five minutes and want to waste it. It’s oddly addictive working towards another goal, and you’ll always want to get ahead.
Eventually, the sheen will fade from Kingdom Clicker and you’ll want something with more depth, but as a part of this strangely addictive genre, it succeeds pretty well. It makes a pleasant change from the usual auto RPG style and there's always something new to work towards.
