Hidden Wonders Of The Depths Review

Hidden Wonders of the Depths HD won't win any prizes for its looks or gripping storyline (hint: there isn't really one), but casual gamers should still enjoy this combination of popular gaming elements, ensuring there's always something different to do.

That combination encompasses pretty much everything that one has come to expect from the casual gaming market, from Hidden Object searching to Match Three puzzling and pairing up similar tiles. It'll keep players on their toes, even if it does turn formulaic at a time.

Each section of the game is split up into this series of puzzles, with a treasure piece collected via the completion of a mission. One level might involve matching up similar shapes, in order to help a crab move nearer to a treasure chest, while another might involve matching together a series of gems to clear them in order to progress. Another core section involves a Mahjong style section, in which players pair up relevant tiles until the board is clear. Such action is broken up occasionally by tile based jigsaw puzzles, requiring players to piece together a magic card. Something that I found the most satisfying part of the whole game. There are Hidden Object scenes too which, while simplistic in nature, break things up further.

Hidden Wonders of the Depths HD is, essentially, a medley of what the average casual gamer enjoys. It works well, here, although rarely did I ever feel particularly challenged. Occasionally, I would run out of time, but there's no great penalty in doing so. Such simplicity is oddly cathartic, but it is playing things a little safely. For those after a relaxing gaming experience, though, they could do a lot worse than spending some time with this. As a greatest hits style collection, it hits the spot.
