Frontback Review

Perspective is a big deal in all walks of life. Sure it's great to be able to take a picture of something but wouldn't it also be great to take a picture of the other viewpoint? With two cameras on the iPhone, surely that should be possible? Well, that's clearly what the makers of Frontback thought as that's exactly what users can do now. Offering a social networking feature similar to Instagram, with the beauty of being able to take two viewpoints each time, it's a pretty cool app that deserves to gain some traction.

Requiring sign up either via email or Facebook, Frontback takes seconds to set up and gain access to all the social features. Starting out, the app recommends some worthy people to follow including folks like social media enthusiast and actor, Ashton Kutcher. Much like Instagram, users can also simply browse recent photos as well as the most popular. It's interesting to see people come up with some arty shots as well as more conventional photos of food and animals.

Taking a photo and submitting it is a breeze. The app requires one to take a photo of what's in front of the user first, with a second shot dealing with the front camera on the iPhone. It's a cool way to take a photo of how one looks at a certain event, but it can also be used quite stylishly if one doesn't like to be in all their snaps. There aren't any filters to apply, which is potentially a missed opportunity, but it is simple enough to add hashtags and locations to the image. A self timer adds to the essentials, too. Privacy-conscious users will also be pleased to see that it's easy to hide images from the 'Discover' browser.

Simple to use and browse, Frontback is a nice twist on a familiar photo sharing format. I'd love to see some filters included in the package, but as it stands it's still a pretty solid concept.
