Filterloop Pro Review

Stylishly conducted, Filterloop Pro is a photo filtering app that relies on layering effect upon effect to create a unique look for completed images. Its minimalist appearance ensures the process is relatively simple with the majority of results being quite practical and likely to be frequently used. With such a focus though, it's not quite the one stop shop that some would like to see.

Offering 32 different filters doesn't sound particularly impressive initially, but Filterloop Pro has a significant trick up its sleeve. Filters can be combined to create a 'formula' that can be ultimately shared elsewhere. Each filter is numbered, reducing the need to remember particular names or be distracted by silly over the top descriptions. In every case, the filter makes a subtle change rather than anything overly dramatic, lending itself to various combinations. Unlike many other photography apps, Filterloop Pro's filters are all practical; with none of them feeling as if they've just been included to keep numbers high.

On the iPhone 5 it's all pretty quick to apply too, making it simple to change things around. Undoing something is just a matter of pressing back, which proves similarly speedy. Once the image has been completed, sharing to social networks or exporting the picture is only a tap or two away, completing the simple process.

Such simplicity does come at a small price, however; namely that Filterloop Pro doesn't offer any detailed framing options or other adjustments. Instead, it sticks to the selection of filters available and the ability to take a rectangular or square photo. Filterloop Pro won't be the app to end all photography apps, but it will be a useful companion alongside other convenient tools. Offering plenty of filters that will be genuinely used regularly is a positive sign amongst a genre full of filler.
