Fans of the original physics-based puzzler Feed Me Oil can finally rejoice now that the sequel has been released. Feed Me Oil 2 takes all the features from the original that fans loved and makes them even better. It features better graphics, improved game mechanics, and brand new head-scratching puzzles.
For those who many not be familiar with the original, the goal is to guide gallons of oil so that it flows into designated marked areas. Each level has an odd and quirky layout with crazy animals and impressive landscapes. The oil moves realistically on each level whether it’s on land, through water, or in the air.
In order to guide the oil, players must utilize tools that they are given. The tools are located on the side of the screen and include items like a cannon, barricade, and fans. All of them can be dragged, rotated, and repositioned anywhere on the screen. When players think they have the tools in the right areas, they can tap on the valve to get the oil flowing to the designated area. If the oil doesn’t go in the right direction, the tools can be moved and repositioned and there’s no penalty for multiple attempts.
At the end of a level, players can earn up to three stars. One star is earned for completing the level, and the others for having items left over. Don’t worry about not earning three stars right away as all the levels can be replayed again later. Stars are used to unlock groups of levels in the game, and there are currently a total of four islands with 15 levels each. More levels are promised soon.
When players aren’t earning stars, they can work on unlocking over 20 different Game Center achievements. There aren’t any leaderboards to climb which is kind of disappointing, but the achievements at least help keep the game interesting while players work hard to earn all the stars.
Getting stuck on a level can get frustrating. Feed Me Oil 2 features three hints and one solution free of charge. More hints and solutions can be purchased from the App Store if desired. I’m not a big fan of these in-app purchases, but they aren’t required to enjoy the game.
Once I started playing Feed Me Oil 2, I had a hard time putting my iPad down. It’s easy to lose several hours playing this title, and the casual gameplay makes it perfect for all types of players. It’s an enjoyable title that’s certainly worth it’s purchase price. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a new and great game to play on their iOS device.
