Feed the Deep, SPACEPLAN, and more; The Games I've Been Playing - June 2025

Each month, I want to share some less formal thoughts about the games I've been playing and my impressions of them. These might be game's that got reviewed for the site or not. As an individual person covering a storefront that is shoveling titles onto its store each day, I have time to dip my toes into a lot of it, but I can't always spend the time needed for a review. With recaps like this, I can give some games their due, even if I can't get a full review of them. I can also add additional thoughts to things I did decide to write about or even honor older games I just decided to back to for some reason or another. See below for what I played this past month.

Feed the Deep (Free) - $6.99 Full Unlock

This survival game has a really neat premise that makes plumbing the depths of mysterious waters almost procedural. In a lot of ways, it reminds me of one of the first mobile games I ever fell in love with, Puzzle to the Center of the Earth. Despite this high praise, I also feel like the game is missing something, though I am having a hard time putting my exact finger on it. Definitely download this for free to try it for yourself, and a review will drop once I've been able to fully form my thoughts.

Sky Samurai ($0.99)

This arcade game offers a refreshing kind of purity in how straightforward it is. It also helps that it's stylish as hell. I do wish there was maybe one or two additional layers of unlocks or achievements to chase, but for what it is, and the asking price, it's still a pretty great find that I had a lot of fun with.

Meteorfall: Rustbowl Rumble ($6.99)

I'll be honest, despite really loving this game's design and dumping a ton of time into it to prep my review, I have not come back to it much at all. Some of this has to do with the nature of covering games and always needing to chase the next thing to write about, but I'd be kidding myself if my hesitance to pick it back up hasn't also stemmed from the technical issues I experienced while playing it for review. Ideally, a new update will also give us a bit more screen real estate to parse what's going on.

Genshin Impact (Free)

I have played this game every day for almost five years now, but I am putting it on this list for this month specifically because there's a new endgame mode, which I covered extensively here. Despite it's problems, its existence and the things that it gets right to reward long-time players has reinvigorated my enthusiasm for this aging gacha juggernaut.

SPACEPLAN ($2.99)

After reviewing Scratch Inc. and having it make me question whether I even like idle games anymore, I went back to one I remember liking and, man, SPACEPLAN is incredible by comparison. Although still very much an idle game, there's is so much charm, care, and character built around its incremental gameplay that I found myself enjoying it just as much as I did when it was still new.

Thronefall (Free) - $9.99 Full Unlock

I completed my playthrough of Thronefall this month, and I can't say fully that the game forced me to "make my own fun" but it did feel a bit too much that it was splitting the difference toward that. If that sounds like a level of freedom and control you actually crave from game experiences, though, I have good news: Thronefall is basically great aside from that sticking point for me.

TMNT: Shredder's Revenge (Free) - Netflix Subscription

In putting together this post, I actually completely forgot that I beat and reviewed this game in June. Let that tell you what you need to know about it. You can also read the review for my full thoughts.

No Way Home (Free) - $4.99 Full Unlock

Similar to the game above, No Way Home definitely did not impart a lasting impression on me. This was disappointing because by the time I finished it I still had the promising opening from the start of the game stuck in my mind. There's just not enough of this quirky universe's quirkiness and character to prop up what is otherwise a pretty generic loot-based shooter.
