We are near the back end of the 24/25 NBA postseason, and the Minnesota Timberwolves are one game away from breaking my heart once more. Ah, traditions. Luckily, for those who want to control the narrative themselves, Dunk City Dynasty was released recently, and it has sprinted out of the gates.

In the past week since it launched, the streetball game, officially licensed by the NBA and NBPA, has already clocked over one million users. No doubt, the timing of the ongoing conference finals has helped. This particular number slaps Dunk City at the top of the US Apple Download Charts, and multiple Southeast Asian countries such as the Philippines and Thailand.

NetEase Games has also done a decent job getting collaborators on board. Utah Jazz and the Philippines national team guard Jordan Clarkson was brought on board as brand ambassadors, with former player and ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins featuring as the first in-game guest commentator.

As the graphics no doubt tip you off, Dunk City Dynasty takes a little more of an arcade-style approach to gameplay to keep the action flowing, but there's still enough fundamentals to make this an enthralling time. You can take part in 3v3 and 5v5 modes in fast-paced 11-point games for that hit of basketball whenever you can fit it in.

You can recruit a host of famous players to your squad, including Stephen Curry, Paul George, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and, of course, LeBron James. It has only been out a week, so we can expect more celebrity partnerships and more players to be released. There is an in-game survey asking who should be added, and of course, there is only one current answer: Anthony Edwards.

Dunk City Dynasty is available to download from the App Store and Google Play. Sticking on the NetEase train, don’t forget that the Destiny: Rising closed beta kicks off May 29th for Android players in Canada and the USA.
