If I wanted to play an action shooter, my personal preference would be Warframe, in all honesty, I enjoy it immensely. However, no one can deny the phenomenal impact that Destiny had on the genre, and indeed, games as a whole, which is why news of a closed beta for Destiny: Rising is so intriguing.

A little headline teaser there, and we will get to it, but let's draw out the suspense and instead visit the pre-registration. They have half-opened, with the global pre-registration being available only on the Apple App Store at the moment. It will come to Android at some point in the future, so keep an ear out.

As is customary, Destiny: Rising has a list of milestone rewards that will no doubt be shattered in a matter of days. In fact, it is already rounding one million in less than a day, one-tenth of the final reward, which will be an exotic ornament. It is definitely worth taking a minute to pre-register.

Now, the App Store might have the exclusive on storefront pre-registration, but Android beats that in spades, being the sole system you can take part in the closed beta. On May 29th, Google Play will launch this test with a host of narrative expansions and gameplay. Word of warning, though, it is only available in the United States and Canada. If anyone can fly a plane, drop me an email.

Diving into this test, you will be sent to the Red Sea Rift to confront a curse that is haunting Veridia, and maybe foil the Cabal’s nefarious plans. There are two new characters you can enjoy: Umeko and Xuan Wei. The former is a stealth expert who embraces the Void, whereas Xuan Wei is a master of Arc, my preferred sub-class, gimmie.

As well as these two banner additions, you can also try out some Strike maps, get your face punched in with the new Master difficulty, or kick back and try some fishing. But, most importantly, you can dual-wield pistols, and what more do you need? To take part, simply pre-register on the official site to enter the draw, and then smugly sit back as the Apple users weep into their Lightless operating system.
