In a similar vein to Bakery Story, Dessert Heroes bounds onto your iOS device luring social and casual gamers into the delightful world of cooking desserts.
It's a familiar format. You run a dessert shop with an aim to socialise with other players and have fun rather than 'complete' anything. The more you do in the game, the more recipes and items unlock as you level up. Levelling up is reasonably easy to do although much like other casual games, recipes are cooked in real time. This makes Dessert Heroes an ideal game to drop into as part of your daily routine. Push notifications also ensure to remind you of what needs doing.
As things progress, you can bake more and more intricate desserts which in turn provide you with more sugar cubes and experience. Sugar cubes are used to buy new decorations and equipment as well as new clothes. New items range from new ovens to stands, wallpaper and floor tiles. The customisation potential means that you can ensure your shop looks unique compared to others. It's a similar tale with your avatar as you can change pretty much everything possible with your character also.
Besides the wealth of customisation options, there are a few brief mini games to entertain you with The Golden Cupcake and a scratch card game. There's also my favourite: CakeSplosion where you simply tap the screen as fast as you can while being careful to avoid a bomb floating around on the screen. This minigame also offers leaderboard functionality through Plus+ which provides a plentiful supply of sociable options. There's also the practically obligatory option within a social game to buy items with real money if you so wish.
Dessert Heroes is an enjoyable casual game. It feels as if it's got a bit more to it than the average social game thanks to the minigames and wealth of options when it comes to designing your shop and looks. If you're a more relaxed gamer then certainly give this a shot.
