Crazy Car Driver Review

Crazy Car Driver

Crazy Car Driver is a fairly unremarkable game. It's an Endless Runner in the form of a car chase. While its simple gameplay will pass the time for a few minutes, it lacks some key elements that could have potentially helped it gain that all important 'just one more go' mentality.

Starting out with just one race course and one car to use, things gradually build up through the acquisition of coins. These coins can be used to buy faster cars and different areas to explore, but that's about it. Oddly, there's no way to buy a coin multiplier and there aren't any other upgrades to savor. It's a noticeable issue where replayability is concerned as it won't actually take that long to unlock everything.

Controlling the car across each course is a matter of tilting the iOS device to the left or right to steer it. There's also a button to boost forward at speed, which can be useful for getting out of a tight spot. There's a plethora of vehicles to dodge while collecting coins, with police cars being most challenging thanks to their ability to switch lanes at the last second. There's also the more technical issue of the advertising banners at the top of the screen that reduce the amount one can see up ahead. While this didn't affect me every time, when it did it was an annoyance.

This isn't the main problem with Crazy Car Driver, though. It's the lack of reason to keep coming back for more. With the tracks feeling too samey and the cars not quite distinctive or exciting enough to be worth pursuing, Crazy Car Driver could really do with some assistance in encouraging its players to keep going. It's all just a little too simple for comfort, leaving one wishing there was more depth.

Crazy Car Driver

Too simple to really entice, this is an Endless Runner lacking any sign of depth.
