ClickySticky Halloween Sticker Book Review

ClickySticky Halloween Sticker Book is a highly creative, universal Halloween-themed art app which allows kids and adults of all ages to add virtual stickers to fun, spooky backgrounds.

The original ClickySticky application was the very first app I bought for our iPad, and it is nice to see that new ClickySticky apps have also been developed with a variety of interests in mind. Here, Halloween is the focus, giving users four fun scenes to personalize with an extensive collection of sticker choices. Simply tap and drag a sticker to add, and it is nice that a double tap of these stickers gives players some advanced options such as allowing one to flip these stickers, using their mirror image within these scenes or to delete a sticker one may no longer, and the ability to lock stickers in place is also an option. Shaking the device to delete all stickers, allowing one to start fresh and as saving finished scenes, with email as an option are also possible, and it is nice that this app works in portrait as well as landscape view.

The Haunted Mansion is full of creepy characters, gravestones, scary spiders and other spooky choices that one can use to decorate an iconic haunted house setting. The Candy Bag scene allows players to fill a pumpkin-shaped candy basket full of different kinds of colorful treats as well as some interesting choices that one might find in a mad scientist’s laboratory. A really cute Costume Dress-Up section is also offered, letting players dress up boy and girl characters, mixing and matching a variety of costume elements, with a nice variety of both cute and spooky choices. A Jack-o-lantern creator lets kids bring different carved elements to their custom pumpkins, complete with the flickering of a candle, creating a finished product that looks very much like a pumpkin one would carve and light with a candle, without the mess or danger of an open flame.

The overall quality that this app has to offer is quite high. Well-done Halloween music is included, adding to the overall mood this app creates, and the stickers themselves are bright, colorful and include both some expected and unusual choices. Some of these stickers include animated elements or sound effects as well which add even more fun to this app. I also like the fact that one can add an unlimited supply of the same sticker if one desires, creating a whole army of spiders or robots if one so desires.

It would be nice to resize the available stickers as well as to be able to choose what objects are in the foreground or background, so players could overlap these stickers anyway they choose, as I find it problematic that The Candy Bag section has specific stickers earmarked for decorations that don't fit well into or behind the candy bag, as well as treats one can place within the bag or behind, but not in front of for decoration. Even with these limitations, this is a terrific, creative app that will get kids into the mood for Halloween and also to come back after the holiday to play as well.
