BrainSnack

BrainSnack lives up to its name, offering bite-sized puzzles to keep one's brain ticking. Kind of like a puzzle book of old, the app offers a series of puzzles often related to imagery or mathematical problems, leaving players to figure things out for themselves. It's pretty fun, too.

The app starts out by explaining a little about itself. Each puzzle is awarded a star rating to demonstrate how difficult it is, while icons are also presented in order to show in what way the puzzle will challenge one's brain. It's simple yet effectively described.

50 puzzles are available in all, which might not sound like a huge amount but there's a fair number of head scratchers in the mix. Logic puzzles, visual conundrums, and numerical problems all play an equal role here. Even better; it's possible to move around the 50 available puzzles, meaning one can switch to whatever appeals to them at the time. Answers are far from clear, with each puzzle quite satisfying to figure out rather than guess, so 50 is a fairly lengthy number to keep players entertained.

For those stuck on a puzzle, it's possible to use social networking to ask for help from friends. More immediately, it's also possible to spend credits on hints which tend to prove quite useful. Bear in mind this is also where the in-app purchases emerge, although they're far from essential to progress. Leaderboards and achievements further add to the list of reasons to keep playing.

BrainSnack isn't the most exciting-looking of games, focusing on its content rather than style, but it is quite entertaining for those who prefer more lateral-based challenges. It should offer enough content to keep those players happy for a while to come, too.
