Baffles Classic Puzzles Review

Baffles Classic Puzzles reminds me a little of the puzzle books that my parents would give to me on a long journey to keep me busy. They’d be simple-looking logic puzzles but often they’d take a while to figure out. This game is just full of those, and that’s a good thing.

Offering 76 puzzles in all, with a further 24 coming soon, there’s no shortage of challenge here. Each puzzle is offered to you with a description of what needs to be accomplished, along with some historical context, explaining the origins of the puzzle. Baffles Classic Puzzles takes its inspiration from many different eras, including ancient Rome and China.

Each puzzle tends to look incredibly simple but they very rarely are. While they take a few seconds to complete, once you know how, they’ll often cause plenty of head scratching before that. At any one point in the game, you can participate in one of a few puzzles meaning if you get stuck, you can always go elsewhere for a bit.

Puzzles are graded differently depending on their difficulty, with more chickens awarded for harder puzzles. Those chickens then go towards unlocking new sets of puzzles, plus you can use them to unlock hints. That’s also where you can pay through in-app purchases to get ahead of such things, but the fun really comes from figuring things out for yourself.

And Baffles Classic Puzzles is certainly full of fun. Much like puzzle books of old, it’s ideal for dipping into as and when you want to be taxed. Sometimes you’ll find yourself pondering a challenge outside of the game as Baffles Classic Puzzles’s allure seeps in to every facet of your life.

For the puzzle fiend, it’s a very easy recommendation to make and it's sure to entertain and infuriate you for a while to come.
