It has sadly been quite a while since we heard anything about Sonic Rumble, the last piece of news being the postponed launch back at the end of April. So, we are left waiting. And how will we tide ourselves over? Perhaps with the Sonic the Hedgehog collaboration with Asphalt Legends Unite?

Sonic and friends will be joining the race, and god bless the little blue rodent, he’s making it fair and also jumping in a car instead of running literal rings around his opponents. During this event, slated to last until June 26th, you can tackle the Boss Mode, a one-on-one race against a weekly revolving challenger, each with a Sonic-inspired car aesthetic.

You can’t really have Sonic and expect not to chase rings, so Asphalt is introducing the Collector Mode. It is what you'd expect, and the rings make the classic sound effect when you pick them up, bringing a little nostalgia to the table. Speaking of sounds, a host of memorable Sonic tunes will also play in the background, and rather excitingly, the iconic stage complete jingle awaits you at the finish line.

When you've collected enough rings, you can purchase a bunch of crossover vehicle decals featuring your favourite characters. The SSC Ultimate Aero TT can sport Sonic, your Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport can represent Tails, and Knuckles can decorate the Apex AP-0.

Shadow will be available for the Nissan GTR Neon since you can’t stick a bike in a car game, and the DS e-Tense gets the adorable Chao. Dr Eggman, or Robotnik, depending on where you are, can take a spot on your Donkervoort D8 GTO Individual Series, which somehow fits so well, and finally, your Lamborghini Revuelto can sport a decal of Amy.

Asphalt Legends Unite is available to download from the App Store and Google Play.
