Posted by Stephen Gregson on April 16th, 2021

Two new Sync Pairs have made their way into Pokemon Masters today. Both pairs hail from the Alola region, Elio & Popplio and Selene & Rowlet. Their arrival coincides with an event called Trials on the Isle.

Elio & Popplio are a Water-type support Sync Pair with access to the move Sing, which can put opponents to sleep. Additionally, when this move works successfully, Popplio will restore HP. Having been cooped up over the past 12 months due to winter and covid, Pifer is encouraging gamers to start enjoying the great outdoors again with its recently launched AR adventure epic, Shrouded Citadel.

Whilst most AR titles, such as Pokemon GO, deliver simple 3D renderings in the real world, Shrouded Citadel offers up something more akin to a full VR experience. The entire game takes place at a 1:1 scale, dropping you into a vast and incredibly immersive 3D dungeon environment that requires a generous amount of open outdoor space to enjoy the best possible experience.

Whoever told you you can’t get rich making videos has obviously never heard of Compete, Competitive Media Technologies Limited’s hot new social media app where you can rake in all the dough just by doing what you love. Video monetization that requires blood, sweat, and tears is now a thing of the past, as Compete rewards you with a whopping $5000 simply by posting a 15-second video of whatever floats your boat.

How does Compete work?

Video creators can win hundreds of dollars by creating videos to compete in a wide variety of categories, whether you’re vying for the top spot as Breakdancer of the Year or causing spontaneous death by cute due to your adorable doggo on-screen. Dubbed as the new TikTok alternative, Compete lets you showcase your talents and pit them against others to nab that cash reward.

The typical prize money for the top winner is up to $5000, but those who land in 2nd and 3rd place will also receive smaller cash rewards for all their hard work. There are additional bonus payouts too, which brings us to the next point.

Anagraphs is a word puzzle game with a twist, and it’s out now on mobile

Posted by Olly Smith on April 12th, 2021

Cinq-Mars Media has released its word puzzle game Anagraphs for iOS and Android devices. The game released last week after a short delay in getting it onto the appropriate platforms.

Anagraphs is a word puzzle game where you search for anagrams within a set of letters. It sounds simple enough, you make the word ‘cat’ out of ‘act’, and so on. However, there’s a slight twist to it too. Each letter uses a special font that makes them vertically symmetrical, and you can rotate it to create new letters. This makes for so many new ways to find anagrams from the letters you’re given.

These are the top 5 best iPhone games like Fortnite

Posted by 148Apps Staff on April 9th, 2021

Fortnite has been the big hitter in mobile gaming this year, and it's not hard to see why. Thanks to some excellent marketing, and a polished experience that almost anyone can enjoy, it's really taken the App Store by storm.

But there are other battle royale experiences out there if you want to try something different. Some of them are terrible though, so we thought it'd be a good idea to round up what we think are the very best games like Fortnite for iPhone.

We've included links that will let you download the games as well, we're good like that. If you think we've got our suggestions wrong, then feel free to add your own in the comments at the bottom of the article. And don't forget to check out all the other lists on the site by clicking here. Now, without further ado, let's get on with the choices.

The top 5 best iPhone games like Pokemon Go

Posted by 148Apps Staff on April 8th, 2021

Pokemon GO is still the, if you'll excuse the pun, go-to game if you want some AR action on your phone. But it's not the only choice out there, and if you've got a hankering for something a bit different, then your eyes might already have started wandering. Which is why we've written this list of the best iPhone games like Pokemon GO.

Some of them follow pretty similar templates, albeit with different franchises or concepts wrapped around them. But we've pulled a couple from leftfield as well, to give you some different options if that's what you're after. Our aim is to make sure everyone downloads at least one game from this list. We're nothing if not optimistic.

You've probably got your own suggestions about what games should be on this list. If that's the case, make sure you toss them into the comments section at the bottom of the article. And if you click here you'll be able to check out all of our other awesome game lists as well. So that's pretty neat.

The top 5 best iPhone games like Starcraft

Posted by 148Apps Staff on April 7th, 2021

Starcraft sits at the top of the RTS tree for a number of very good reasons. It also isn't on mobile, again, for a number of very good reasons. But that doesn't mean you can't find a way to indulge your sci-fi, competitive, massive, or engaging RTS desires if you know where to look.

Luckily, we do know where to look. Essentially it's our job, so we've trawled the App Store to find the best experiences that we think are going to at least sate your Starcraft cravings before you get back home to your PC where you can play properly.

We've chosen what we think are the finest games, but it's entirely possible that you disagree with us. If that's the case, then feel free to chuck your own suggestions in the comments section and get some discussion going. And if you're interested in content presented in list form, make sure you click this link and check out all the rest of the lists we've written.

Apple Arcade: Ranked - Top 25 [Updated 4.6]

Posted by Campbell Bird on April 6th, 2021

In case you missed it, I am on a quest to rank every Apple Arcade game there is.

Over a year into the Apple Arcade experiment, I’m adjusting my approach to these rankings to make it a bit less cumbersome to update and read. For the most part, this means the number of updates on previously released games will decrease, and the text below each entry will be kept to a brief-yet-accurate justification for its positioning.

This has less to do with the pace of Apple Arcade releases and more to do with the fact that the general quality of games on the service simply isn’t what it should be. In the time that one release comes to the service, multiple high quality games hit the App Store that you don’t have to pay monthly upkeep for. Unless something drastic changes with the service, my opinion on it probably won’t change much. With the most recent update bringing older established titles to the service, Arcade is certainly the strongest it has ever been, but additional shakeups like this will need to keep happening to finally sell me on the service.

Anyway, on with the ranking updates:

The top 5 best iPhone games like The Room

Posted by 148Apps Staff on April 6th, 2021

The Room has had a massive impact on the world of mobile gaming. Not only is it a brilliant adventure, it also shows how the touchscreen controls on your iPhone can be turned into something far more elegant and tactile than just a bunch of buttons. But what to do when you've finished playing through all four games in The Room saga?

That's why we've written this list. So that when it's time to put The Room down, you're not going to have to go cold turkey. The games on this list aren't just clones though, they build on the ideas of The Room and throw their own into the mix as well.

Obviously, if you've got your own suggestions, feel free to chuck them in the comments section at the bottom of the article. And if you want to read more of the awesome lists we write on a weekly basis, you can check them out by clicking right here.

Posted by Stephen Gregson on April 5th, 2021

Today, thatgamecompany has announced that a new season is now available in their popular game Sky: Children of the Light. It is called the Season of Assembly and will look to instil a feeling of nostalgia among its player-base by focusing on imaginative play.

It will take place in the Hidden Forest realm and sees players pledging their allegiance as a Scout after meeting the Scout Season Guide. They are looking to rebuild an abandoned treehouse as well as reigniting lost kinships from their past. It will be up to players to help them achieve this.
