+ Universal App - Designed for iPhone and iPad
By Campbell Bird on September 15th, 2022
Our rating: starstarstarhalfstarblankstar :: TRANSIENT TRANSIT
This track-laying puzzle game serves up a lot of brain-bending challenges, but struggles to make a lasting impression.

Interactive Film The Gallery screens at the Dinard Film Festival 2022

Posted by Shaun Walton on September 29th, 2022

The FMV/interactive film hybrid video game genre has been around for a while but doesn’t seem to have that many games out there, but they just might get some more exposure as The Gallery has landed a spot in the Dinar Film Festival 2022.

Despite being one of the leading forms of entertainment, gaming is still looked down on as immature, so to have an interactive movie video game enter a film festival is a rather exciting moment. The Gallery, which recently launched on mobile and console, will be screening as a group gameplay event from September 29th to 1st October at Dinard.

Posted by Shaun Walton on September 28th, 2022

Making money out of games has been a long-held dream for many a gamer but it's ultimately difficult to achieve, but PUBG Mobile is making it a little more achievable by announcing their upcoming 2022 PUBG MOBILE Club Open. The open is available to register until 9th October, with qualifiers due to start on October 13th.

The first thing many players are thinking is that these competitions are usually for professionals or those in the top part of the leaderboard, it won't really be an “open” competition. In the past this would sadly be true, however, Krafton has announced for the first time the prerequisite for entry has been lowered and any player ranked Silver or above can sign up by filling out an application in-game.

Gamabilis reveal release date for realistic farming game Roots of Tomorrow

Posted by Shaun Walton on September 26th, 2022

Realistic Sims are very fun experiences and give gamers an excellent chance to experience other walks of life, and Gamabilis has released its hyper-real farm management game Roots of Tomorrow. Whilst the more arcade-type games like Stardew Valley are enjoyable, Gamabilis has used real scientific data to provide a more in-depth and immersive experience.

Players can choose between four different farms, each with its own landscape, climates, livestock and unique choices. The objective is to achieve the agroecological transition of the farm, or put simply become more sustainable, within 10 years.

Mobile game developer SYBO resumes Ecologi Play2Plant initiative in Subway Surfers

Posted by Shaun Walton on September 21st, 2022

SYBO, the developers behind the hit mobile app Subway Surfers that pops up all over the place on social media, has launched its Play2Plant event with the aim to help combat climate change. Sure, playing video games is a lot more interesting than earth-friendly activism, but where else are we meant to play them?

Kicking off the event with a first-time massive billboard in New York's Times Square, SYBO is relying on its 150 million active monthly players to get in-game and virtually run as far as they can. The developers are asking for runners to post content on Tik Tok using SYBO's custom sound to raise further awareness, but those uncomfortable with doing so will be providing more than enough help by simply playing.

Animal Crossing meets exercise as Glossbird Inc debuts mobile fitness game Fitmen

Posted by Shaun Walton on September 20th, 2022

It can be extremely difficult to fit exercise into a day-to-day schedule even though it is a vital activity, so video games like Pokemon GO! and Ring Fit that make it into a compelling game aren't given the amount of credit they deserve, and now Minnesota-based studio Glossbird Inc has announced its debut mobile fitness game, Fitment.

Whilst some of the bigger exercise games go for the professional, personal trainer vibe, Fitment instead opts for a cutesy, cosy experience, with Glossbird explaining some inspiration came from Animal Crossing and Duolingo. Who hasn’t wanted to work out with a lifesized owl providing encouraging hoots?

Debut 3v3 knockout striker title Omega Strikers revealed by Riot Games veterans Odyssey Interactive

Posted by Shaun Walton on September 19th, 2022

Odyssey Interactive has recently announced details of its debut title, a free-to-play cross-platform 3v3 combat sports-inspired game Omega Strikers. Players will take part in fast-paced, hectic matches where the aim is to score goals whilst smashing opponents out of the way.

The gameplay unfolds in a small arena with two goals at either end, where each team dukes it out to be the first to get at least five points whilst also leading by two by scoring goals with a hockey puck. A relatively straightforward concept, that gets a lot more hectic when each playable striker has a set unique set of skills to powerfully strike the ball, control the arena, or when all else fails, just fire opponents straight off the edge.
