Android users have a new option in the controller market as GameSir release the X4 Aileron

When you are in the thick of a firefight or trying to pull off a mid-combat parkour flip through a squad of foes, sometimes touchscreen control just won’t do it for you. For those intense sessions, you could benefit from a good mobile controller, and so the rather fancy developers at GameSir have unveiled the X4 Aileron.

Despite sounding like something you would expect a fighter pilot to be zipping around in, the X4 Aileron is a rather nifty-sounding Bluetooth controller that promises an ultra-responsive connection. Whilst you can get a plug-in controller for that guaranteed speed, GameSir says that their controller features low-latency play.

The X4 is a modular controller split in two, with both halves featuring a 400mAH battery, and Hall Effect sticks, complete with anti-draft performance perfect for those precision jumps. Thanks to the two halves, there is room on the back to stick on a fan for cooling or a wireless charger. That being said, the X4 also benefits from pass-through charging.

People wanting to get the most out of their gaming can enjoy E-sport level microswitch buttons, face buttons, campers, and a d-pad that have a lifespan of up to five million clicks. Of course, the key phrase as always is up to. You can also customise the controls thanks to interchangeable ABXY, thumbsticks, and d-pads.

One of the biggest things a Bluetooth controller in this style has over their pluggable brethren is their unmatched portability. The two halves fit together snuggly so you only need to cart around a small cube that weighs less than one lb. There are two downsides to note with the X4. First off, it is Android-exclusive, so that obviously cuts the market a bit. Second of all, it costs $99.99, which isn’t a lot for a good controller, but it is in general.
