Players take the role of a gun-slinging farmer who must defend his farm against waves of zombies that attack every single night. Not only must he fight against human zombies, but he must also battle against flocks of zombie chickens, dogs, and other animals. The zombie’s mission is to attack and destroy the farmer’s house and barns. Players post up with the farmer in front of his house and attack the zombies as they stumble towards each building. Money is earned at the end of each night depending on how many zombies were killed and on the condition of each building when daylight comes. Money is used to purchase new weapons, repairs for damaged buildings, and hired hands that help the farmer pick off enemies with their rifles. If the zombies are allowed to destroy everything, the game is over.
The controls are simple. The farmer will shoot anywhere the player places their finger. I found it useful to just keep my finger at the top of the screen to pick off the zombies as they first came onto the screen. The graphics and sound effects are also very simple. There isn’t much detail given to the environment or to the zombies. It's possible that the camera angle makes it seem that there isn't much detail since the zombies look so small on the screen.
There are two game modes, easy and normal. The gameplay in each mode becomes very repetitive and the first few nights on the farm aren’t very difficult to survive. I was amused at first but since the gameplay is so repetitive, I almost got to the point where I wanted to zombies to destroy my farm so the game could end.
Overall, Night of the Living Chicken left me wanting more. I wasn’t too impressed by the gameplay or the graphics. While I like the idea behind the game, I don’t think it was brought to life very well. Those who love zombie games enough to spend a buck on this game might find it entertaining, but after having played it I unfortunately don’t think it has much replay value.

Experience Life As A Zombie With The Playforge's Zombie Life
Zombies are cool. That's why there are so many games centered around them. Also popular are social games which is precisely why The Playforge's Zombie Farm has been such a success with over 20 million downloads since its release last year.
The Playforge clearly aren't keen to sit back, though, and have released a new zombie social gaming title: Zombie Life. This time round, players take the role of a young zombie as they stumble their way through life in the real world. Comedic opportunities are abound thanks to the zombies needing to work in places like Burger Kong or the local grocery store, while staying consistently fresh and safely disguised. It's certainly an original idea for a freemium based social game and just in time for Halloween.Check out the gameplay trailer below. Zombie Life manages to make zombies look pretty darn loveable in their quest for normality.
Zombie Life is available now for free with in-app purchases available.
