Her Story, a Mystery Game by Silent Hill: Shattered Memories Creator Sam Barlow, Has Been Revealed

Posted by Jessica Fisher on January 22nd, 2015

Sam Barlow, writer and designer of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, has released a teaser trailer for his new independent game, Her Story. The game uses live action footage to tell a tale of mystery surrounding the disappearance of a woman's husband in 1994. Players will have access to archived video footage from a police database that shows interviews with the woman. As she tells her tale you will be tasked with researching her story using the database.

“If you can Google, you can play Her Story. The mechanic of searching for clips in the database is so simple that anyone can pick up and play. But it’s a mechanic that quickly reveals its richness and complexity. At times it can feel like you’re engaged in a genuine dialogue with this woman and her story. It’s a unique way to interact with a narrative, a sculptural way of viewing a story -- and something that can only be done interactively,” Sam Barlow said in a press release.

Her Story is due to release early in 2015.

Gameloft has just unveiled Dungeon Hunter 5, a new addition to their mobile hack 'n' slash franchise. Playing as a 'common-guy' bounty hunter following on from the events of Dungeon Hunter 4, the game is set to feature improved graphics, new animations 'built from the ground up', and all new weapons and effects.

Players will also be the owners of their own dungeon 'hideouts' in the new multiplayer mode, where they'll aim to defend their loot whilst stealing from others. Each hideout is designed by the player, with the ultimate goal of an attacker being to defeat the owner of the hideout at the end and claim some of their loot as their own. This loot can then be used in the new weapon fusing system, which allows players to combine and level-up their weaponry.

Dungeon Hunter 5 is set to slash its way onto the App Store later this year. Players can pre-register for the game now, which gives them the opportunity to work toward exclusive launch day items including concept art and a minion to help protect their loot.

Posted by Tre Lawrence on January 9th, 2015

Development house Starship is getting closer to releasing its new imagination game, Playworld Superheroes.

Some game details, per a recent press release:

Set in a city garden littered with junk and unloved cast-offs, each chapter of super-powered playtime begins in the Playworld treehouse, a crafting hub in which the game’s themes are realized. Players must defeat playful enemies on the ground in intense moment-to-moment action, jumping back to the real world to craft new tools and gadgets to level up their powers. Would-be heroes must then take to the skies to overcome their greatest challenge yet. Armed only with their imagination, the player must skip between two worlds to save them both in a Hollywood blockbuster-styled game of their own creation.

Playworld Superheroes has been teased before, but now we get to see a fresh trailer with a bit of gameplay while we wait for its release - which should be fairly soon.
