So Many Holiday iOS Sales Oh My Goodness! [Updated x5]

Posted by Rob Rich on December 19th, 2014

The holiday season is in full-swing, which means a whole lot of iOS apps and games are going on sale. A bunch already have, in fact. Naturally this means we're putting together a hand-picked list of the best discounts and sales we can find in order to make your own App Store holiday shopping easier.

Things are already kicking off with an impressive assortment of great titles, and it's only going to get better as we close in on the New Year. So take a peek at what's on sale, and treat yourself a little.

[Updated - 12/20]: Holy moly there were a lot more things on sale than we expected. Over 150 entries are in the list right now, including some rather significant titles like Chaos Rings II, Where's My Water, and Deus Ex: The Fall. We've also updated the list with a devoted Apps section, and that's loaded down with some significant sales on apps like AmpliTube, Fantastical 2, and Launch Center Pro as well. The best part is we're just getting started!

[Updated - 12/22]: As expected, the list just keeps growing. A few things went back up to regular price (boo!), but way more things have gone on sale to make up for it (yay!). We're talking apps like GoodReader and The Hit List, and games like Machinarium and Infinity Blade III.

[Updated - 12/23]: Did the sales stop yet? Yeah, no, no stopping. Today's updates include big price drops on apps like Scanner Pro and Splashtop Remote Desktop. Well, the app side of things, anyway. Game sales are even more crazy, with sales on titles like Republique, XCOM: Enemy Within, and FTL just for starters.

[Updated - 12/24]: Nope, we're still not done!

[Updated - 12/26]: The holidays are over, but the sales aren't. Things have admittedly slowed down a little, however there are still some great games that we've added to the top of the list. Games like Type:Rider and Out There.

Love is in the Air. Also Gameloft Sales. And More Love.

Posted by Rob Rich on February 14th, 2012

No doubt there will be plenty of couples out celebrating this Valentine's Day. Lots of flowers, candy, romantic dinners and candlelight. No one really stops to think about the less glamorous side of the holiday; namely waiting in long lines to get into a restaurant for said romantic dinner, scrambling to find flowers and candy when at least half of the country is doing the same, and so on. Fortunately there's a way for iOS users to lessen the irritation and have an easier time enjoying the moments that really matter. In this case, I'm referring to Gameloft's Valentine's Day sale.

Of course rescuing a space princess in Earthworm Jim, wreaking havoc in Gangstar Rio: City of Saints or running amok in Rayman 2: The Great Escape won't substitute for making googly-eyes at each other from across the table. They will, however, make the wait for the table more bearable. And just in case finding "the right words" ends up being an issue, there's also Gameloft's Love Declaration Generator. Hey I'm just pointing out that it exists, I didn't make the thing.

Ash Gets New Custom Artwork, a Few Tweaks, and a Price Drop

iPhone App - Designed for iPhone, compatible with iPad

Ash was one of the first RPGs I downloaded when I was a new initiate to the wonders of iOS gaming. I recall being thoroughly impressed by the quality. Well, that quality just got a boost. The original game was released with graphics licensed from RPG Maker, but SRRN Games has replaced all of it with totally original artwork. The new style shares a few basic similarities with the older one, but overall it's a huge visual change. Especially the character portraits.

Another less obvious but still notable change has to do with the random encounters. One of the game's initial shortcomings was that there were just so freaking many of them it kind of made getting from point A to point B a pain. This has been rebalanced, so now random encounters are a bit less frequent. They'll still happen, and they're still essential to not being caught in a boss battle with one's pants down, but the decrease will go a long way to making the game more accessible and overall more fun.

Last and most important, Ash is getting an 80% prince drop for the holidays. What was once a great RPG that could be had for $4.99 is now a great RPG made slightly greater and available for a buck. One dollar. $0.99. I'd gladly recommend this game to any RPG fans at $5, but $1? That's, like, "don't even think about it just buy it" pricing. So yeah; don't even think about it, just buy it.

Holiday App Sales Galore [Updated x3]

Posted by Brad Hilderbrand on December 22nd, 2010

Last month our Thanksgiving meals were stuffed with lots of deeply discounted apps, and it seems that publishers are getting into the Christmas spirit in much the same way. We've got a whole slew of apps available at rock bottom prices just in time for your holiday celebrations, many at their lowest prices ever. Make sure and act fast though, as many of these apps are available for an extremely limited time.

Also, be sure and keep checking this post regularly, as we'll be updating all the new deals as they are announced. Much like Santa, we don't stop working until Christmas, and we're paid in milk and cookies. Speaking of, if you could leave out some chocolate chip oatmeal cookies that would be delightful.

Update 12/23, 1:45pm: Just a minor update. Nearly tripled the number of great sales apps!! Lots of great things here, many at the lowest prices we've ever seen. Seems like you can buy a lot of entertainment for $0.99 these days. The list has gotten so long that we've had to split it into multiple pages -- sorry about that, but if we don't it will kill many people's browsers.

Update 12/24, 10:30am: Added a bunch of great title from EA now that we know they won't be raising the prices over the holiday weekend. Also a few dozen more great apps and games.

Update 12/24, 6:15pm: Added even more great apps bringing our astonsishing total up to 355 great apps on sale. Let's hope Santa brings us lots of iTunes gift cards for Christmas.

We've got over 180 250 355 top quality apps on our list. Hit the jump for the full list!
