Five for Friday: Week of February 04, 2011

Stylish Dash –
The one thing the internet has taught us is that stick people are notorious badasses. They get their kung-fu fighting on, perform crazy battles, and even save the world. Now these folks add yet another skill to their every growing resume: stylishly running and flying. Stylish, because you can dress up your stick person with swanky outfits. The dash part comes in as you run, jump, fly, and destroy obstacles in your path. Mini games, achievements, and endless replay will make this well worth the investment.

Shadow Run –
Shadow Run is another endless running game in which you must run from left to right. What Shadow Run offers is a beautiful world, simplistic controls, and an addiction level that just may make you want to sneak away from your desk for just one more shot. Sometimes, those simple games are the most time consuming.

Dirt –
You take the role of a dead cat in this game, but you are no ordinary feline. No, you managed to pass to the afterlife with a pickaxe and a curiosity that living cats would envy. Why you are trapped underground is unclear, but what is clear is you will put that pickaxe to use to excavate the ground. Digging will yield clues to why you are underground, unearth new shiny things, and provide you with potentially endless amounts of gameplay. Besides, you’re a skeleton cat swinging a pickaxe and wearing boots; what's not to love?

iBanjo –
You may rejoice as iOS finally has a banjo app. Yes, this means you can finally play that infamous tune from Deliverance wherever you go. You will need to practice a lot if you ever plan to get as good as Steve Martin though. iBanjo has crystal clear sampling, so you can rock out at the office if you like. Find someone with a guitar, drums, and fiddle app and start your own iOS Bluegrass band!

Scan To PDF –
If you have a need to create elegant PDF’s from photos, this is the app to do it. Using a proprietary algorithm, this app will take any photo from the camera or photo library and convert it into a beautiful PDF. Once the PDF is created, you can email, print, and share your works. If you have to send signed documents to people, this is a great tool in helping you with this task.

It's Hip To Be Square Again With Upcoming Racing Game

Posted by Ben Harvell on May 24th, 2010

We’re getting excited about an upcoming racing game for iPhone called Cubed Rally Racer. Jared Bailey, creator of DuckNCover for iPhone, has submitted his latest app which, from the look of the trailer below, could be an addictive slice of fun for your iPhone. The app is described as a 3D isometric rally car racing game and Jared says “Think Dirt meets RC Pro-Am meets Canabalt”. If this turns out to be true we can see ourselves getting hooked!

Cubed Rally Racer features randomly generated levels and sees the user play for best times while picking up gas cans scattered across each track. The game has a nice retro 8-bit look with exciting curves and jumps and will also offer OpenFeint connectivity as well as Facebook and Twitter integration.

Cubed Rally Racer has been submitted to the App Store and will cost $1.99 so check out the video below and keep tabs on www.nocanwin.com for news of the game’s launch.
