Why Nintendo needs to sharpen up its act if it's going to succeed in 2018

Let's not thwack around the undergrowth here, Nintendo has done alright when it comes to mobile games. Super Mario Run is probably one of the best auto-runners on the App Store, and you can see why by clicking here for our review. And Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and Fire Emblem Heroes are both solid experiences.

Now re-read that first paragraph. I just described two Nintendo games as “solid experiences”. That's not something that usually happens with the big N's output. Sure it might not throw out games left right and centre, but the ones that do come out are almost always top of their class.

It's been a pretty spectacular year for mobile games, with all sorts of unique titles sprouting up, many by surprise. With top-knotch games launching on a near weekly basis, it's been quite a task narrowing my top choices down to just ten entries. I've opted to present my list in no particular order -- these games all excel at very different things, excellent exemplars of what their genres do best. first big holiday event got under way this week. Players can now craft exclusive festive items and collect fun santa outfits. It's a great way to get into the holiday spirit. The only catch is, you only have 25 days to take advantage of it all. Once Christmas is past, the event is over, whether you've collected everything or not.
