Sure, you could burn a hole in your pocket by purchasing expensive games in various forms. However, the App Store provides plenty of great games that will give your wallet a break. Some of the best games on the App Store started out costing gamers not a penny. Just a few free new games worth your valuable time and space include:

Red Rum:
Ricochet games are starting to creep up in many forms. These games provide a simple premise of placing the player at one side of the screen, populating the space with enemies, and forcing the player to eliminate all the enemies with spectacular trick shooting skills. Red Rum will test your geometry and aiming skills as you will have to work hard at removing all the terrorists that stand in your way.

Alice in the Secret Castle:
Alice appears to have gone and got herself stuck in a castle. Good thing she has a magical rod that will aid her in escaping this castle. All she has to do is use this magical rod to hide castle walls so she can make it to the exit. Sadly, she has a long way to go as there are 64 rooms to get through. This will challenge you, while mocking you with visuals that pay tribute to the old days of pixilated goodness.

XLARGE X-Sk8er:
Skateboarding is fun no matter what platform it comes on. This game is all about distance and racking up big scores. The simple controls may make this seem like a walk in the park, but it will take quick reflexes and mad skills to avoid the abundance of obstacles littering the world. Sure you may not be kicking some mad 720s off a half pipe, but you will be bouncing off bums to add a precious few points to your score!

Caribbean JUMP Online:
This is a unique take on jumping game blended with a smidgen of racing. This is not a single player affair, though. Join up with friends and see who has the skills to pay the bills. Various offensive and defensive items will help you lay waste to your foes as you look to prove you are the supreme racer. When you do win, brag about it with included social media features.

Starfront: Collision:
If you think iOS can't handle a good real time strategy game, you may want to dive into this game. This RTS game comes with three factions, 20 missions, controls geared towards the touch interface, and even five multiplayer maps. Build up your skills by taking on the single player campaign where you will learn each races nuances, units, and buildings. If you’re an RTS fan, this maybe the gateway drug you have been waiting for.

You are in charge of guiding Thief Lupin through a staggering 300 stages that span unique places like the Empire State Building to the Pyramids. The challenge to this game comes with different kinds of traps, witty puzzles, and an array of enemy behaviors. Don’t let the one button control scheme scare you off, as there are countless hours of play packed into this game.

Paranormal Activity: Sanctuary –

This is a location based augmented reality game in which your surroundings become the front lines of a supernatural battle. This action RPG is packed with fun visuals, chaotic game play, and much more. You will need to blend skills and combos together to best the enemy in this game. Finally, Friday is upon us and the weekend is just about here. While you maybe planning a big football party this weekend, you still have to make it through the final few hours of hiding under your desk at work. Here are a few free games to help you pass the time in that cold dark closet of boss hiding +1.

Cavern Drake –
Want to fly a dragon and hurl fireballs at baddies? Then Cavern Drake has you covered. Fly Drake around dark caves, blast massive waves of bats from the sky, and avoid all obstacles that come in your way. Some special items, upgrades, and even in-game achievements round out the gaming package. With almost no learning curve to the game, this is one that just about anyone can pick up and play.

Roulette World –
Roulette is one gambling game that is played in just about every corner of the world. Sure, there are variations on this formula, but the basic premise is the same. You bet big money in hopes of making even more money. Roulette World may not suck your bank account dry, but it does make virtual gambling big, beautiful, and fun. Why waste real money in a casino when you can blow virtual coin in your PJs!

Empire Online –
Who knew iOS would turn into a massive multiplayer online gaming platform? While this is not the first MMO to drop on the iPhone or iPad, it is the first one you can easily play in short bursts. Guilds, dungeons, gear, a crazy high leveling system, and a massive world are just the beginnings. There is not even a monthly subscription fee. Try this one if you want to dip your toes into what is turning into a great genre on iOS!

Cannon Blast Bill –
Your unemployment streak comes to an end when the employment agency finds you a great job in the circus. Sadly, that job is as a human cannon ball. All you have to do is keep Bill in the air until he reaches his final destination. Twelve levels, an endless mode, and pick up and play controls make this a great game to play while playing hide and seek from the boss.

Outlaws – The Race –
The future is here, and unfortunately, life is rather hard. Your life as a criminal is nothing but a constant fleeing from the cops. You will control one of three criminals in three different super cars as they try to escape the cops in a high-speed futuristic car chase. Three laps are all it takes to find your way to freedom, and continue your life of crime.

Another perfectly good week is once again been destroyed by the corporate machine. As you sit in your cube staring blindly at the monitor, why not sneak in a free bit of gaming? It is much more fun than watching the clock slowly tick away the day. Besides, it is slacker Friday.

Run Like Hell! –
Get those fingers warmed up as you are going to need quick reaction times for this game. Run Like Hell! is a platformer pitting your running, jumping, and sliding skills to the test. Leaderboards, five endless levels, story mode, and free updates make this a time consuming monster. It is to damn cold outside to be running in real life, so why not enjoy it virtually?

Catcha Mouse –
Mice are tricky little creatures. No matter how strategic you get with mousetraps, they always seem to find a way to avoid them. Catcha Mouse takes this mouse hunting frustration right to your iOS device. You have to stop a mouse from escaping through one of the many mouse holes on the screen. If you are stuck on one level, skip it and try a different one, as all levels are playable. It will take skill and brains to capture this clever furry rodent.

Emross War –
Emross War is a massively multiplayer strategy game. You start as a young lord looking to make your mark in the world. As you gain experience, you can recruit other legendary heroes and summon powerful guardians to fight by your side. You do not have to go at this alone though. Recruit your friends and take on the forces of Chaos together. Those of you who enjoy games like Travian or Evony will most certainly feel at home here.

Bubble Ball –
Bubble Ball is a physics based puzzle game in which you must get a bubble to the goal. You will need to use different wood and metal game pieces along with power-ups with a bit of ingenuity in order to solve the abundance of puzzles included in this game. You can even change the color of the bubble if blue does not suit your fancy. This will help keep you entertained as you wait for a fresh pot of coffee to brew.

Bullistic –
Are you sick of flinging birds at pigs yet? Bullistic will have you shooting bulls to see how much damage you can do on vases, plates, and glass. Game Center leaderboards and achievements will have you coming back to cause even more damage. You only have three shots; how much damage can you cause? Causing destruction is so much fun!
