To-do list apps are quickly taking over the App Store. There are so many choices, that it can get a little overwhelming. What iOS users should look for in these apps are the ones that are versatile and work for any occasion. Whether it’s planning a trip to see the in-laws, running a small business or working on class projects, an app that does it all will go a long ways.

Weave just so happens to do all of the above. While it’s not exactly brand new, a recent update has made the productivity app even better than before. Let’s take a look at what makes it so different.

When Weave is opened for the first time, users have the option to create an account if desired. An account is highly recommended as it allows users to assign to-dos to others, share projects and to never lose their information. It’s completely free of course, and it can be created at any time.

There’s a quick tutorial to help users get started. The “My Day” screen is where all tasks and projects are viewed. When it’s time to add a new to-do task, just tap on the plus button in the upper right corner. There are four choices: add to-do, add project, add expense and add income.

A to-do can then be entered and assigned with a name, due date and project. When a task is complete, users can input the exact time spent on it, which is great for time-management. A project simply has a title and status and it’s a convenient way to organize to-do tasks. The income and expense options allow users to track how much money they are earning or spending. Once a task is complete, tap on the check mark to set it as finished.

The settings menu makes it easy to navigate the options within the app. Users can view their day, activity, projects, to-dos and money as well as adjust settings like alert times, currency and my day results. This menu also allows users to export their data via a .csv file.

Just when it didn’t seem possible for any more features to be packed into Weave, the latest update added even more content like a way to add notes to any project, a money screen to see income and expenses for any time period and an option to put projects on hold. However, I didn’t see a way to create recurring tasks.

Weave is ideal for those looking for a basic to-do app that isn’t packed with a lot of cumbersome details—making it perfect for almost any task. The interface is intuitive and easy-to-use, and the app supports iOS 6 and iPhone 5. Although there is no desktop equivalent, it works perfectly fine as a stand alone app. The best part: it’s completely free.
