With a mixture of different casual gaming elements, Time Gap is pleasant enough even despite its control issues.

Part of a gradually growing trend of freemium-based Hidden Object games, Time Gap: Hidden Object Mystery is one of the better titles out there. It suffers from some control issues, but its variety of different things to do ensure that this is a game to entice casual gaming fans.

There's a story here based around historical figures through the ages, but admittedly most players probably aren't going to pay a huge amount of attention to it. Instead, they will be diving into the many different missions to complete. Each mission involves completing some kind of activity before gaining experience towards leveling-up.

A hefty focus is placed on Hidden Object scenes with a mixture of written lists, silhouettes, and even night time scenes to work through. It's a familiar bunch for the Hidden Object player but quite entertaining to work through. That's not all Time Gap: Hidden Object Mystery has to offer, though. Puzzle games akin to Bust-A-Move requiring players to clear various colored orbs also play quite a role here, with Match-3 featuring as well. Brief interludes with casino games and snooker mini-games complete the variety available.

What doesn't work so well for Time Gap: Hidden Object Mystery is its control system. On the iPhone, it's often quite fiddly to press buttons and even tap on objects. I found it slightly out of sync with the placement of my finger, which can make all the difference when seeking out an object.

Also, due to its freemium roots players are restricted by an energy bar that gradually recharges over time, but offering something different to do regularly makes this feel not so bad. It's possible to spend quite a lot on in-app purchases, but it's not essential to progress. While Time Gap: Hidden Object Mystery can't be a game to play for hours on end, it's quite fun to dip into from time to time and feel as if one has achieved something, even despite such control issues.
