There’s certainly no shortage of podcasts out there for adult interests. Whether you’re keen to listen to an analysis of Game of Thrones or learn more about a political event, there’s a podcast for you. Content for children isn’t quite as commonplace though, which is where Tales Untold comes in handy. It’s a collection of original, episodic children’s audio stories, providing plenty of imaginative content. It’s an easy to use app, too.
Requiring no sign up or log in process, you can get straight into listening to something. Tales Untold is designed for children to use, meaning the audio player side of things is simplified. A parent zone requiring a response to a simple mathematical question means you don’t have to worry about your children buying something without your permission.
For free, you can check out the first episode of four tales. There’s the story of the mysterious Inspector 9, an adventure centered around children who befriend a gnome, Radbert the monster, and a fourth tale about a magical chest. It’s simple stuff but each is quite charming, with a cute picture demonstrating what to expect. After pausing or leaving the app, you can jump straight back into the story too, proving ideal for impatient kids. There's a favoriting tool too, so you can easily find your favorite episodes.
In each case, you can only check out one episode before opting to pay either $0.99 an episode or $4.99 for a season, but they’re generally sufficient tasters in helping you determine if it’s worth it. You can download the stories for offline listening which is a particularly useful feature for if you’re traveling.
Giving your kids a taste of podcast loving, Tales Untold is a fairly appealing app. It’s responsible in its way of dealing with in-app purchases, while still allowing your kids to feel like they have some control over things.
