Morpha is an endless runner, but one that appears to lack much personality and spark. It offers a few features that are new to the genre, but its focus on a Tron style exterior, means it feels a little too cold and distant to be endearing.

The arena is presented from an isometric perspective. You race through various areas because, well, I don’t know why, but you need to. Your craft is a red arrow keen to flit around, providing you remember to swipe left or right to move it around. You can jump or duck too, through typical swipes up or downwards. More interesting is the ability to manipulate the environment around you.

You can double tap on a big boulder in your way, taking it out. You can also tap on an empty square in order to create a bridge to help you in your efforts. It ensures there’s a little more going on than in most endless runners. It’s not quite enough to make it truly stand out though.

There are boosts such as the ability to clone yourself for extra point scoring opportunities, but they’re also fairly typical such as multipliers and a slow down mode. Scenery changes at regular checkpoints too, with a premium mode (unlocked via an in-app purchase) enabling you to start from there if you so wish, but it's not a dramatic change.

That’s the issue with Morpha: It stays too samey for too long. It’s a game that responds best to short sessions but it’s still going to struggle to entice you to go back for more at a later date.
