It’s the Avengers, pinball style! Zen Studios, responsible for Zen Pinball and Star Wars Pinball, has created another pinball game, this one based on our favorite Marvel characters. Marvel Pinball releases at $0.99 cents, though it only offers one playable table in that purchase, The Avengers table. There are 14 additional tables available through in-app purchase at $1.99 each.

The Avengers feels like the right table to offer with the initial purchase as players can select up to six pinballs that represent each Avenger character, each bringing their own unique ability to the gameplay. There are also visible characters on the table; Iron Man, Thor, and Loki, and each character moves around, and even attacks, depending on situations. Loki is set up in the middle of the machine and continuously taunts you, which gets incredibly annoying after a while. The table itself is fairly well designed for targeting areas, aiming for high scores. Players get three rounds with two pinballs each before they reach game over.

Marvel Pinball is a good game of pinball and adds unique scenarios that forces players to hit specific zones on the table, meeting certain conditions, in order to rack up major points. Loki is, of course, responsible for creating those unique scenarios. There are moments where he attacks the table, changing the visual representation that it displays. Also, there are times where he creates duplicates of himself that appear on the table which players must hit them with a pinball. It does a good job adding to the Avengers theme that the table represents.

The game plays out very well and has fun moments of speed and intensity, keeping eyes wide open as the ball goes flying all over the screen. It’s also incredibly frustrating with every bad bounce that the ball takes, which is exactly what players should expect from a pinball game. Too many times has that ball taken stupid bounces, grr!

It’s Marvel, it’s pinball, and it’s an Avengers table that provides more than enough fun to keep players entertained for a few hours, racking up high scores to compete with friends on the leaderboards. The voice overs will have you listening to something else in little to no time at all, but it’s great to see Thor and Loki do battle on the table while trying to keep up with where the ball is located.

While Marvel Pinball is entertaining at first, I still found it to get tiring after a few hours of playing. It wouldn’t be the biggest mistake to purchase the one table at $0.99 cents, especially for fans, but it won’t be long until they are tired and wanting to purchase additional tables or simply move on to different games.
