In FatCat Rush, the player guides Tombo Fatcat, a procatonist with a big appetite, though a circular labyrinth, munching up all the precious food that was strewn about due to an unfortunate accident. The player uses button controllers make Tombo jump, run, slide and glide through the air, eating up all of his delicious food. The controls are easy to master and the learning curve is quite quick. It does still pose some challenges - Tombo runs pretty fast and if the player is not careful Tombo can run right into rocks, wood and other obstacles littering his path. Do that three times and Tombo has to start all over from the beginning of that level.
The music is jaunty and chipper and Tombo's sound effects are hilarious. My personal favorite is when he shouts "bonzai" as he zips through the air in really big jumps. I smile every time. I always appreciate options and in FatCat Rush the music and sound effects can be adjusted separately for a personal sound profile.
It would be great if there was an option to switch between button play and tilt and touch play. On the iPad the button play would be most enjoyable; I kept wanting to tilt the device to make Tombo move faster while playing on the iPod touch. Not having tilt does not detract from the play, it's just my personal gaming desire.
All in all, FatCat Rush is a cute game, with bright and engaging graphics, great music, cute sound effects and just plain fun gameplay. With easy controls and a simple learning curve, FatCat Rush is great for everyone in the house.
