The interface is a breeze; with a left and right arrow, a forward and back arrow, and a boost button. Players can throw their cars around each environment any which way they want and not have to worry about bursting into flames or completely losing momentum. Moreover, they will gain points for stunts (the arrow buttons double-up for this very purpose), which soon become coins that can be spent on a variety of different vehicles - some of which need to be unlocked gradually through leveling-up.
As expected, driving around aimlessly does become tiring. Plus this is predominantly touted as a multiplayer game, so it makes sense that it's when players go online that the fun really begins. With up to 8 drivers allowed in each of the 4 levels, events start like clockwork – from races to stunt competitions – and it's a whole lot of chaotic fun. The controls can become a bit of an annoyance during some events though, since the handling has a certain bounce and elasticity to it that it isn't ideal when collecting coins or trying to bash the "king" and remove his crown, which both require a bit more control and precision than is possible.All-in-all though, Crash Drive 2 is just a blast to play. It's good, fun arcade driving that throws rules out the window. It could use a few more environments, and certainly a few more types of challenges, but hopefully that will come with time. For now though, there's more than enough here to get sucked into.
