The stock Contacts app really isn’t that helpful for anything vaguely complicated. The makers of Launch Center Pro obviously realized this as they’ve just released Contact Center, an app that aims to make contacting people so much easier.
Taking little time to get started, Contact Center is simple enough. You pick out your favorite contacts, probably those you use most often, then the app starts you off gently. Immediately available to you via a grid-based interface, you can opt to send a group email or message to all of those people, send them an animated GIF, or simply opt to call them in a conventional manner. While the group messaging feature is convenient, the rest sounds pretty uneventful, right?
The strength in Contact Center comes from diving into individual contacts. Hit a name of a contact and all the options you can think of pop up. You can easily message them, send a GIF, FaceTime, call, or even send a predefined message at the tap of a button. Contact Center takes a set of options that are already available but consolidates them, thereby making it much easier to deal with. It’s possible to add other shortcuts, or even folders of shortcuts, meaning you can customize Contact Center to your needs quite quickly. For free, you’re restricted to a set number of options as well as some fairly ugly adverts, but $2.99 buys you the full release. It’s the kind of app that takes a few attempts to truly see just how convenient it can be, but it really is - especially if you have a lot of contacts on your iPhone.
For those looking for an easier, more straightforward way to juggle their many, many contacts, Contact Center is a no-brainer of a purchase. Where it lacks the looks, it more than makes up for in potential.
