Confessiondolls Review

Have you ever had a deep dark secret that you needed to get off your chest? Writing your thoughts down in a journal often helps, but there’s always the risk that someone you know will read it and find out what you’ve been hiding. Thanks to a new app by MediaGROE known as Confessiondolls, iPhone users can now confide in their own personal dolls and write down their stories and secrets. Confessions can either be hidden or shared with the community, depending on the version downloaded.

Confessiondolls has an eerie and dark feel to it. Once users open the app, they must create an account so that their confessions remain password protected. This doesn’t take long at all. You can opt to remain logged in if you desire, but you may want to consider not checking this box if others use your device.

After an account is created, users are free to customize their doll. The hair, skin, clothing, shoes and accessories can be altered. While there are a handful of customization options, users would enjoy it more if there were more options to select.

The doll hangs from a rosary. Once users are ready to confess, they can tap on the Confide in Me? button. A title and three keywords must be entered and then the confession can be written down. I enjoyed the look of the aged yellow paper, but the font seemed a little small for my eyes. A zoom in option or a way to make the text larger would be greatly appreciated.

Confessions that are made public can be viewed by tilting the iPhone to landscape mode. Tilting down or up lets users scroll through other Confessiondolls. The username, title and keywords are present and the confession can be read by tapping on the doll. Users can then add it to their favorites, tweet, like or share any that they enjoy reading.

The full version of the app provides many more features such as the option to sort confessions from latest, popular and most active, add dolls to the favorite wall and the option to make confessions private. If you love the app and can’t live without these features, you’ll have to dish out $1.99.

Despite a few minor inconveniences like a lack of customization options, the small font and the price users will have to pay for the additional features, Confessiondolls is a pretty clever way for users to journal their thoughts. The interface is not only intuitive but also creative which makes writing down those dark secrets not seem so bad after all.
