An initial glance at Byte Master would immediately have you assume it’s a Threes! clone. It certainly has a reasonable amount in common, but it gets more convoluted than that. That’s a mixed blessing as it means there’s more depth, but that also means it can confuse.
Starting out, you’re matching up numbers just like in Threes!, but in a quest to create bytes, kbs, and so forth. Keep at it and you eventually level-up. Level-up sufficiently and you can buy upgrades and even an energy generator so that Byte Master does some of the hard work while you’re not around. It’s a little slow in getting you to any of this good stuff though, so a lot of players are probably going to end up sticking around for the basics.
Either way, Byte Master is somewhat enticing. There’s a steady stream of missions to further entice you into playing, and Byte Master has that ‘one more go’ factor. It could do with more expansive explanations at times, but if you experiment it’s kind of rewarding.
