Shallot Games' Vista Golf has sweeped the App Store, taking mobile gamers by storm with its addictive gameplay and elegant design. It's a great game for short, breezy game sessions

However, the grip of competition can easily take hold of you, with its constantly shifting, regional leaderboards and fluctuating course offerings. You have to stay on top of your game if you want your own scores to reach new heights. Here are a few tips to help you become a top competitor.

Be careful with your rewinds

Vista Golf grants you two chances to redo your last putt per course. That's quite generous of them, don't you think? Don't waste these two little windows of opportunity, though. Save them for when you really need it. When might that be?

It's generally better to save them towards the end of the course, when you have a better idea of what your overall score is going to be. If you find yourself close to a new record with only a few more holes to go, it's a good time to go ahead and use one of those rewinds to redo a botched shot.

It's all about the angles

You can zoom and adjust the camera at whim, but it's not only for checking out the lovely scenery. Before you go ahead and hit the ball, take some time to view the course from multiple angles. You might get some fresh perspective on the best way to approach the hole.

A game of numbers

Distance is changeable in Vista Golf. You can't rely on the length of the arrow when lining up a shot. Instead, get a more precise idea by using the numbers that appear as you pull back to swing. The numbers are a bit more exact, and you can use your findings for multiple holes.

Have you reached crazy high scores in Vista Golf? Tell us all about it in the comments.
