The best upgrades in War Tortoise

War Tortoise has a ton of different weapons and upgrades to sink your teeth into, and it can be a bit daunting when you're starting out.

So we've got a few tips on where you should be putting your money to ensure you survive in the bizarre, bug-infested world.

The best defence…

Starting out, you should put all the money you can in your tortoise's power. Wiping out enemies before they can reach you is the real trick to survival, so make it your primary focus.

You'll need to level up health at some point, but that can wait until later levels. Also, levelling up health heals you slightly, so try and save it for when you start taking damage to keep you going a bit longer.

Make friends

War Tortoise is an idle game disguised as a shooter, so treat it as such and make sure you have plenty of back-up to do the heavy lifting.

Ground units are only good as distractions, so don't upgrade them too much. Instead, pour money into building gun towers, which have much better base stats and will mow down anything that gets in range.

A new generation

As soon as you can, restart your game as a new generation. And keep doing it. You get a huge bonus to most of your stats, and these stack every time you start over.

To make the most of it, wait until you're a level further than before, as the bonuses increase each time you beat your personal best.

Don't forget to improve your mining. Putting some money into this upgrade early on pays off big time further down the line, literally.

Just don't forget to actually pick up the minerals in combat, of course, or you'll have wasted your money.
