The best Christmas games on mobile

Posted by Jennifer Allen on December 17th, 2015

Christmas is nearly upon us, which means you want everything in life to have a kind of snowy or festive theme, right?

Well, what better way to get in the mood than by playing a few festive treats on your mobile or tablet.

We at 148Apps have picked our favorite winter-themed games that you’re sure to enjoy these all year round.

Alto's Adventure

+ Universal App - Designed for iPhone and iPad
Released: 2015-02-19 :: Category: Game

Alto’s Adventure is a rather beautiful game.

As an endless runner, your mission (of sorts) is to snowboard through the glorious landscapes rescuing llamas, leaping over chasms, annoying irritable elders, and grinding across rooftops and bunting.

While not overtly Christmas-sy, the winter theme should help keep you in the holiday mood.

Ski Safari 2

+ Universal App - Designed for iPhone and iPad
Released: 2015-08-27 :: Category: Game

Ski Safari 2 treads some similar ground to Alto’s Adventure but is a little more action packed.

The objective is pretty much the same - travel down a mountainside at speed while performing tricks and completing objectives - and there's a bunch of different characters and vehicles to unlock.

The less sedate pace means it’s not as calming as Alto’s Adventure, but it’s ideal for those looking for an adrenaline rush.

Skiing Yeti Mountain

+ Universal App - Designed for iPhone and iPad
Released: 2015-05-21 :: Category: Game

Older gamers might remember the wonders of Skifree, a game that had you skiing down mountains until, inevitably, you smacked into a tree or got taken out by a Yeti.

Skiing Yeti Mountain harkens back to those times of yore but has hundreds of slalom tracks to complete, rather than being endless.

It’s a simple concept but one that offers that ‘just one more go’ factor in shovel loads.

Year Walk

+ Universal App - Designed for iPhone and iPad
Released: 2013-02-21 :: Category: Game

Christmas isn’t just about fun frolicking - it's also about spooky tales and dark supernatural happenings.

Year Walk is a dark adventure based on Swedish folklore that'sset on New Year’s Eve, and it's the ideal offering for those looking for something less light, but just as compelling as the other offerings here.

It's a kind of first person adventure that relies upon your cryptic puzzle solving abilities. Expect to listen out for clues, as you become increasingly immersed in this creepy experience.

Oh, and did I mention it’s from Simogo, one of the best developers on the App Store? Get downloading!
