Portal Knights is finally making the jump to iOS and Android, and it's already climbing the ranks to become the next big MMO experience on mobile. This sprawling sandbox game will let you pursue any adventure you wish, whether you want to sling spells at fearsome monsters or build a towering base that's the envy of players from all around.

Portal Knights is a game of endless possibilities, but sometimes the lack of limits can feel a bit overwhelming. Here are a few tips to help you get started and dive into the world.

Explore every nook and cranny

You'll get the chance to venture to a variety of different islands on your adventures, but to start off, you should explore the tutorial island, the first place in the game you're sent to, thoroughly. This island will show you the ins and outs of the game, which will help you transition into the main game much more smoothly.

Once you do enter the portal into other lands, though, again, make sure that you are exploring everything. Not only are the islands rich with resources above ground, you'll also find some pretty good stuff if you start tunneling below. Exploring will grant you experience points, crafting materials, and you might even find an excellent spot to start building your creations.

Mix and match your armor

When collecting armor, get a little creative with the gear you buy. You don't have to buy armor solely from the Crafting Station for your class. Check out other Crafting Stations to see what's on offer. You might find that other classes' armor will also benefit your playstyle. The Archer capes, for example, are great for damage dealers in general.

Build a base early on

It doesn't have to be anything fancy, but you should consider building a base when you first get the materials to do so. A base can provide a nice home for you to escape to after fighting swarms of enemies.

Build the base near a useful vendor, build a landing pad so you can return there from far away, and construct a Ward of Protection to keep your new home safe from invading enemies. It's also helpful to create some storage chests or other units to keep all of the treasure you collect over time.

Assign attributes and traits as they suit you

As you gain experience points and level up, you'll be able to assign points to your base stats, like Agility, Constitution, etc. You'll also unlock special traits for your class. If you're a Mage, for example, you'll be able to specialise in staffs, scythes, or wands.

You should focus first on the attributes that support your class, but it's honestly more important to alot attributes and points that will better suit your play style. If you like to go it alone in combat, but you're a squishy Mage, a few points in defense are always a good idea. You also aren't locked into a particular trait once you choose one, so feel free to change things up if you need to.
