Oof. Pokémon GO Fest Chicago was pretty much a fiasco, huh? Niantic is feeling the heat from fans for their first big event that ultimately ended in failure. So much so that they've released a much longer apology that gives a full run down of everything that went wrong and how Niantic plans to do better.

Oh, and we also learned when the rest of the legendary Pokémon will be making an appearance. Onward!

Niantic's CEO, John Hanke, was on site for Pokémon GO Fest Chicago, and says he spent much of his time at the event talking to fans who were understandably upset. Hanke says that the problems stemmed from both software and network issues. The game bugs were fixed early on, but that didn't solve the over-burdened cellular networks that were causing the majority of the problems. As a result, many players were unable to even log into the game, let alone participate in the festivities.

Despite all of this, Hanke says he was pleased to see large groups of fans dispersing together into surrounding neighborhoods after the end of the event to go out and catch the legendary Pokémon Niantic released worldwide as a part of the apology.

As for said legendary Pokémon, trainers will be getting opportunities to catch the remaining two legendary birds in the coming weeks. Articuno, who was released on July 22 during Pokémon GO Fest Chicago, will be available until July 31. Moltres, Team Valor's bird of choice, will follow on Articuno's heels on July 31, and will be available until August 7. Zapdos, who falls under Team Instinct's banner, will be released on August 7 and will be available through August 14.

All told, Niantic says it plans to learn from its mistakes and keep moving forward with the fans in mind. "Last Saturday was not a happy day for us," Niantic's John Hanke says, "but we are committed to listening to that feedback, however harsh, to improve what we do so that we can continue to build experiences that bring together people, technology, and the real world in innovative ways."
