New release for iOS and Android: Becoming BytesTM lets you raise, battle and evolve your own monsters
Chariots Gaming, a studio based in Singapore, has been working on a new, casual action game that allows you to train your very own monsters.
Now available globally, Becoming BytesTM puts you in the shoes of a novice trainer tasked with raising powerful, battle-ready Bytes. These monsters have a limited lifespan, beginning as adorable hatchlings, then moving through distinct stages of evolution to become formidable fighters. To keep your Byte alive and kicking for as long as possible, the game encourages you to be a good trainer; feed them all sorts of food, pet them via touchscreen and play with them using an assortment of unlockable toys. You’ll also need to do a bit of ‘stable cleaning’ — in this case, tapping to vanquish any poos they’ve left behind (life as a monster trainer isn’t always glamorous). Doing all of this regularly keeps your Byte healthy, and its happiness and fullness meters topped up.
As well as the monster-raising element of Becoming BytesTM, there is also its action-oriented side. Test your monsters in battle through successive missions in three different difficulties. Each mission is in the form of arena-based combat, during which waves of enemy Bytes will spawn to trade blows with your monster.
There’s also a dedicated online PvP mode, where you can test your Bytes against those of another trainer. Fighting in Becoming BytesTM is automated, but you can choose to be more involved; tap the on-screen button to speed up your Byte’s attacks, and choose to deploy special moves at strategic moments. Through the experience points you glean from clearing missions or fighting other players, you’ll be able to level up your Bytes and their health, defence and attack stats.
