So you’ve mastered the basics of Spellspire. By which I mean you’ve realised it’s all about spelling things in a spire. What next?

Well you’re going to need to figure out how to toughen up your character. It’s all well and good being able to spell really, really long words, but it’s not going to mean a thing if your gear isn’t up to scratch.

Don’t worry though, we’ve got plenty of hints and tips to guide you through ensuring your little wizard is as strong as he can possibly be.

Go back for the stars

There are two ways to unlock new pieces of gear to buy - stars and floors. You need to replay levels to get the stars. It’s also a good way to get more cash if you get stuck on tough levels higher up the tower. The levels you replay add new challenges, so you’re not just retreading the same ground.

To buy or enhance?

If you’re struggling with a level, but you don’t have enough cash to buy the next piece of gear, it’s worth upgrading what you’ve got already. It won’t cost as much, and toughening up what you’ve already got should set you in good stead for defeating the next set of challenges.

Extra coins

Check back in every day and you’ll find a chest that gives you either an extra life or some more gold. It’s better to focus on filling up your coffers rather than adding to your stock of chances. Especially early on in the game, the extra coins are going to give you an edge when it comes to getting stronger.

HP and damage

You might not notice it but there are options in the shop menu to increase your base damage and base HP. The first few upgrades are reasonably priced, and while they don’t give you as much of a boost as a new hat, robe, or wand, it’s still worth stocking up on them if you’ve got some cash spare.

New items

Sometimes it might look like the new items you’re buying aren’t as strong as the ones you’ve already got equipped, but make sure you check them out properly. Some add boosts and buffs to your character that can make them more worthwhile than what you’ve already got.
