Beginning this week, Facebook is launching its Instant Games platform worldwide to its entire 1.2 billion person user-base. The move brings bunches of classic mobile games to the Facebook Messenger app, allowing folks to play games without installing anything. It certainly makes mobile gaming a lot easier. The update comes with a few additional updates to the service.

Turn-based games will now feature leaderboards and tournaments, giving players more choice in how they play competitive games with friends and family. Words With Friends is one of the first games to take advantage of these new features. The hugely popular Scrabble-style game is a great first choice, given Words With Friends' continued popularity.

Game bots have also been implemented, giving developers more room to flex their creative muscles. These bots allow for more automated features to assist players, or call people back to the game to fight it out with friends in friendly competition. Facebook will be rolling out new titles for Instant Games in the coming weeks.
