Crashlands is an open-world survival game that can be a little overwhelming at first. Here are some tips to get you on the right track in no time.

When in doubt, scavenge!

There's a lot of stuff to do in Crashlands, and it's not always clear what you should focus on first.

Considering the game is all about crafting, a good first step is to just start looting everything you can. Doing so can yield new schematics to craft new things and even unlock new quests. So, when in doubt, go crazy with scavenging.

Pay attention to terrain types

If you find yourself in need of a particular kind of resource, don't just wander around aimlessly in search of it. The terrain in Crashlands does a great job of communicating the kinds of things that can be found in any given area.

For example, if you're in need of flat rocks, you should be able to find plenty in the gray, craggy sections of terrain.

As an added bonus, you don't have to memorise where certain terrain typesare, as the world map will tell you. So you can just teleport to the areas where you need to gather specific resources from.

This isn't Diablo combat

As easy and tempting as it is to compareCrashlands's combat toDiablo, there are actually some important differences. For starters, instead of walking up to enemies and unleashing combos and abilities, moving around takes priority in this game.

You should be able to take down really tough creatures if you know their attack patterns and move out of the way when they prepare to attack.

That being said, moving out of the way isn't always as easy as it sounds. Be careful when taking on enemies well above your stats, as they can easily kill you in one hit if you don't move quickly enough.
